Due to an extended period of high water demand and possible leaks in the distribution system, the water levels in the Borough’s water storage facilities have fallen to an action level. As a result, the Borough is hereby declaring a Public Water Supply Emergency in accordance with Borough Ordinance No 432. It shall be unlawful for any person to draw water from the public water supply except for Essential and other ordinary household uses. Users should evaluate your personal and business activities involving water and take all possible steps to reduce your usage. Non essential uses including exterior watering of lawns or gardens, washing of vehicles or trailers, washing of outdoor surfaces, filling of pools or the operation of fire hydrants under non-emergency conditions shall be prohibited until further notice. Penalties for violation of this order will result in fines ranging from $100 to $1,000, and or physical restriction of the water service of a violator.
Previous water conservation measures issued earlier this year have had a positive impact on the usage in our water system in the past. Additional water losses may result in the need to truck water into the storage reservoir, which results in a considerable cost the Borough which ultimately is passed to down to all users. You can make a difference in this matter and your compliance is appreciated.
